April 5, 2016: New interactive application

ZevRoss Spatial Analysis teamed up with the California Department of Public Health to create an interactive mapping application that enables users to view spatial and temporal trends in agricultural pesticide use. The application makes use of California’s extensive dataset on pesticide applications from the Department of Pesticide Regulation. The app allows users to choose from more than 3.5 million different combinations of chemical, crop, year, summary type and geographic unit. From a technical perspective, the tool does not require a GIS server, reducing maintenance requirements and complexity. Instead the tool uses Google’s Angular JavaScript framework combined with Google maps and a PostgreSQL/PostGIS backend. You can find the application here.
